Outcome Based Education?



Everyone is talking about outcome based education (OBE). Why there is so much discussion on topic in education sector? From ages of Gurukul people are imparting education and there was no problem. Then suddenly why so much about OBE? Also give opinion on others reply.

    Outcome based education is necessary to bring equilibrium between the industry's requirement and courses content and due to this pattern we (Teachers) can understand and adapt and accept the changes which are happening all around the world. Same way as I personally wanted to input and inherent indian good values in students mind.

    Outcome base Education is important for some extent because there is many colleges and If you get number of resources then you have to filter out some resources and I think these filter out process is carried out by Outcome base Education.

    Outcome Based Education is gaining importance as now the industry requires quality engineers. In earlier days, the importance was not felt probably owing to the reason that the resources in terms of content of curriculum was limited to only books, however there is abundant content available now. So now the need for outcome is more important than output.

      Rightly said madam. I would like to add to this that today's engineers are lacking 'life skills'. They are not at all taught in colleges. Hence engineers are not able to perform in real life.

    Outcome based education is used to test performance of student on the basis of knowledge, skills and attitudes. After graduation what qualities to be gained by student to balance professional as well as personal growth hence it is required to adopt this method not only for student but also for faculties to survive in today's competition.

    OBE enables one to check quality of results instead of quantity which was focus of earlier system. It gives opportunity for teachers to understand areas in which students need more help to succeed. It is a systematic way to evaluate teaching and learning process. Hence it is very important to implement OBE.

    Outcome Based Education is a need of today’s era to manufacture the product (students) as per the requirement of industry, it is student centric. In OBE, there is explicate mention of what knowledge student should have, or understand and how student should implement it. Students are assigned some predefined means or activities such as projects, hands on session etc. to acquire required knowledge. Continuous assessment is required to take corrective action if required. It’s a well-planned activity by educator to ensure students’ progress in right direction.

Since 2016, the number of engineering seats has been on the decline. According to AICTE, it is around 75,000 annually. In 2016-17, total intake capacity at undergraduate level was 15,71,220, of which total enrolment was 7,87,127, which is just around 50.1 per cent. Necessity of Accreditation and its benefits to stakeholders?

It is a known fact that Technical institutions should mandatorily fulfill all specific criteria's according to norms of NBA to get accreditation . The new All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) policy says that only NBA accredited colleges can increase their intake. Please give your opinion why as institute should apply or not apply for accreditation. Comment on the necessity of accreditation, its benefit to stakeholders.   Is it a strategic/political/wasted interest of some countries to enforce their system on us as Indian? Please comment.
